Hi All,
In my previous posts I had given details about the frustrating experiences
in Debian Sarge.
Problems erupted in connecting to the net too.
Okay, this is due to the habituation in a particular distro by me.
In RH, after installation, I configure KPPP to connect to net with my ISP
account details and that's the end of it.
In debian, the same thing could not log me on to the net.
The KPPP ended with pppd dying with an error code 1 which said an essential
system call has failed.
I entered noauth in pppd arguments in KPPP tab, tinkered around in
/etc/ppp/options file, but to no avail.
Then a kind soul(Surprise! Surprise! to find such souls in
comp.os.linux.misc) mentioned about pppconfig in passing and I ran
pppconfig. Then I configured KPPP and voila! I am on the net.
Just I thought that when some person steeped in a particular distro asks
some questions about a new distro, a little more levity or courtesy from the
group will not hurt.
