I am new to win2003 servers and active directory!
Have a Windows2003 server with allmost default installation, and a Windows
XP on same LAN. Have an ADSL connection to ISP, and have access to SMTP at
ISP. If I connect a windows2000 pro PC to the LAN, and try
telnet [my ISP SMTP] 25 I get answer from ISP SMTP.
If I try with my Win2003 or my Win Xp I does not get connectio. When I try a
LanPortScan program, I can see that port 25 is "closed". I have disablet any
firewall, I have checked that no filter is in LAN card.
Please Help How does I proced?

Port 25 is generally used by an SMTP server.

There is an SMTP server included with IIS on both Windows XP and Windows
2003, however IIS is not installed by default on either of those operating
systems. Please go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs ->
Windows Components and install the necessary IIS components.

Make sure you get the latest security patches for IIS! Use Microsoft
Baseline Security Analyser (MBSA) to verify you are up-to-date:
www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsahome.mspx

Cheers
Ken

Hello Ken
I found the problem!!
It was very simbel! I had installed a Virus Program from McAffe, to awoid
worms, the virus program blocked port 25.
Be aware that not only firewalls, but also virus programs can block ports!
