Until recently I ran a dual-boot w/Win98 and RH7.3. Last week I upgraded my
hardware and linux ran just fine but windows had to be reinstalled. Normally
when I reinstall windows it wipes out my lilo...after windows is up and
running I just use the linux reinstall/upgrade feature to get back my boot
manager. My first mistake I believe is working on this upgrade during a
storm (it wasnt storming/raining when I started)...but now windows is up and
running but the following
error messages appears during the reinstall/upgrade of linux.
starting /sbin/loader
(the system pauses a second and then)
aborting /sbin/loader
signal server 11
Please reboot your machine
This reboot causes the same to happen over and over regardless of whether
I'm booting from the floppy or CD-ROM.
I'm wondering if the boot image I have on the floppy is the correct one (it
should be its the one for RH7.3). A friend of mine runs Mandrake and is
going to try and mount the drive in question on his machine and try to
access it. If this is successful what can I do to get my lilo reinstalled?
I havent tried to load the drv via the boot disk but then again I've never
been successful doing that anyway. Hopefully the lightening didnt claim this
drv....thoughts ? suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your reply
