Could anyone help me setup or point me in the right direction to find out
how to get my smc2532w-b wireless card recognized and usable?  Please.  I am
desperate.  I have tried to RTFM but I can't seem to find one that is
relevant to or detailed enough to get the job done.

From a few googles you should be able to find out that hostap
will do it for you, the card uses the prism chip like so many others
