Hi,

4 months ago installed V2i Protector Server Edition on a win2003
server. Deployed the agent to 2 other win2003 servers and started base
and incremental backups of each.

These worked fine until about 1 month ago when the back ups stopped
working on one of the servers with the agent running (The console
machin says that it cannot find the driver pqv2i.sys on the other
machine). The other server continues to work fine.

Have removed the agent and redeployed from the console on the first
machine and have tried to install the agent from the CD. Everytime I
try to reinstall it BSODs when I reboot the server.

Have visited Symantec's website and come across a KB article which is
for the problem I am experiecing.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...pe=corp

I have tried this resolution but this has not helped.

Can anyone help explain what else I can look at as I had no problems
instaling the agent first time round, now I do and nothing has changed
on the server?

Thanks
Nicola

Try running a chkdsk on all your volumes - I was getting BSODs with V2i
Protector Server when there was something pqv2i.sys thought was "wrong" with
the disk at boot time. The first released version of that driver was
especially problematic (that's why that issued the patch very quickly after
release)

This sounds far fetched, but also try clearing your history - my V2i
Protector GUI would be very slow to load after a few months of history has
accumulated. Make sure your backup images are offline though, another
poster in this NG claimed clearing the history cleared his backup images as
well (though it did not do that to me...)

Another data point - my XP laptop would always BSOD on boot with PowerQuest
Drive Image 7.0 (which is functionally identical to V2i Protector 2.0).
Last week I loaded Ghost 9.0 (which is really Symantec LiveState Recovery,
the new version of V2i Protector) and it works perfectly. Conclusion - send
the bastards at Symantec $800 to upgrade to LiveState Recovery to make your
server backup problem go away....
