I am using FrontPage 2003 SP1 (11.6356.6360) connecting to a server (my
server) running Windows 2000 SP4 (5.00.2195) and FrontPage 2002 Server
Extensions (5.0.2.2623).

I am connecting to the server from within FrontPage using a login with
admininstrator privleges in the FrontPage site and am trying to synchronize
a
local folder with the remote site. I can publish single files, single folder
s
(empty or with files and/or sub-folders inside) however when I try to
synchronize the entire site all at once using the Synchronize feature in the
"Remote Site" tab I receive the following error: "You do not have permission
to do this operation. Ask your web site administrator to change your
permissions then try again, or log on with a user account that has this
permission. To log on with a different user account click OK."

There is an OK and a Cancel option. Cancel returns me to the remote site
view. If I click OK I am prompted for a new username and password and if I
enter 'administrator' and the Windows administrator password the synchronize
function works perfectly.

My best guess is that the synchronize function makes use of an operating
system call or some part of the FrontPage server extensions installation tha
t
resides outside of the local site and thus makes even a FrontPage Site admin
in the site that is trying to be synchronized lack the proper permissions.

Any help would be appreciated. I cannot find anyone else online with this
issue which is sort of troubling.

Do you have to log onto the computer that you are doing the work on? This is
important because FrontPage uses that domain information to communicate with
the server. For me, I am in a corporate environment and the server uses my
domain account as the account on the server fro all admin functions.

If you do not logon to the computer then that may be why you are forced to
lon in when you sync. If you do log in then create an account on the target
site that with your domain and user information from the computer that you
are developing on. This way it might be seamless.
