We are running a Windows 2003 server with IIS6 and the FrontPage 2002 server
extensions installed. The server is part of the domain, so I have the
nomachinegroups registry key enabled. My question is, where does FPSE store
what roles are assigned to which webs and the users that are assigned to
those roles?

Thanks

Hi Doug,

FPSE stores the role information in a file named roles.ini. It is
separate for each virtual server and sub web if the subweb uses Unique
permisions.

You can find the file in the C:\documents and settings\All
users\application data\microsoft\web server extensions\50\w3svc# where
w3svc# stands for the instance or identifier of the virtual server.

Hope this helps

Thanks for getting back to me Hari. I don't have a "web server extensions"
directory in C:\documents and settings\All Users\application data\microsoft\
I did a search and I don't have any roles.ini files anywhere. If I look on
our IIS5 web server, I do see that directory and all the files. Has
something changed from IIS5 - IIS6?

Thanks
