Not too long ago, I finally switched from Mepis to "pure" Debian (Sid,
Kernel 2.6.9-1-K7). One major problem I'm having now is with my
bt878-based TV Tuner card, which worked well under Mepis, but does not
seem to work at all now that I have upgraded to Debian.

When I run scantv, no channels are found, even though the TV cable is
plugged directly into the card. Here's the output of various
diagnostic commands:

xawtv -hwscan output

This is xawtv-3.94, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.9-1-k7)

What kind of TV tuner do you have? (e.g. Jetway, Kworld, Leadtek Winfast).
There are many bt878-based cards around.
Take a look in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/vide4linux/bttv/CARDLIST
(if you have the kernel sources installed).

If I remember right, it's just called PC-TV.
