Anyone else noticed that namesecure's email forwarding has stopped
working over the past few days? I think it's terrible that they have no
technical support at all, and refuse to answer any emails about the
lack of services. Several people I know have seen the same problem over
the past two days.

Is there a good reliable alternative, with decent support? Everyone is
going to have problems at some time, but a totally lack of communcation
about it is inexcusable. And very unprofessional.

-James.

I got the same problem with my domain. This is the second time in 2
years... I hope the fix it soon!

If it doesn't work; for a few days it's not so bad(if you consider all the
spam) only communicate about it!

Chris

Same here!
A real pain in the XXX! The problem has persisted for several

As others have said, same here.

You'd think they would at least respond, or post about the problem on
the Web-site.

These things happen, but fess up! And give us an idea of what is
happening, and when it'll be fixed !

First it slowed, now it's stopped. I've lost some damned important
personal correspondence - not just spam. Worse yet, I can't even log
in at their site (with credentials that worked three months ago). It
would be great to hear about an alternative. At least Network
Solutions (pricy as they are) would be reachable to discuss... anybody
have a recommendation?

I'm also in the same bind and have starting looking for an alternative.
I'd appreciate hearing what others are doing.

I placed a call this morning to Scott Davis, who is listed the
"technical contact" for the namesecure domain, at 1-925-980-4017. I
was first shunted to his pager - and was then informed that it was not
on. I finally left a voice mail, but (no big surprise) haven't heard
back.

How did you get the "Scott Davis" at 1-925-980-4017 listing? That did
not
show up on the WhoIs for NameSecure. I get the following:

Administrative Contact:
NameSecure LLC
Phone: 570-708-8418
E-mail: support@namesecure.com

However, according to the InterNIC directory of registrars, the listed
contact is as follows. I called it, and it's WRONG. The physical
address
and phone number are for NetworkSolutions! ( BTW, the list of ICANN
accredited registrars is at: http://www.internic.net/alpha.html).

NameSecure L.L.C.
13200 Woodland Park Road
Herndon, Virginia 20171
United States
(703) 668-4600
support@namesecure.com

As a final test, I tried using an email test at
http://www.dnsstuff.com/ ,
which shows the progess of connecting to the namesecure.com mail
forwarder
server. According to the test, mf.namesecure.com is down.

In addition to sending email to the bogus support@namesecure.com
address, I logged complaints with INTERNIC, the supposed governing
body for registrars. I used the form at:

http://reports.internic.net/cgi/reg...blem-report.cgi

I wish that were the case, but it's still accepting connections on port
25, and test messages sent yesterday still haven't bounced. It seems
more likely that it's up, and is sending our email into the proverbial
bit-bucket.

Filing a complaint with ICANN seemed like a good idea, so I did that
too.

Namesecure suggests that it offers 24/7 telephone support if you buy
web hosting from them. I wouldn't buy web hosting from them on a bet,
now, but does anybody have that phone number?

I just got a message from Namesecure stating that they are aware of the
mail "slowdown" and are working on it.

Interestingly, I stumbled on an obscure link in the Namesecure website
that pointed to a FAQ regarding a planned EMail upgrade. It said that
customers would be warned ahead of such an upgrade. They indicated
that it would be all over in 12 hours and that the customers would be
informed when it had been completed. Most mail would be held for
forwarding for the duration of the upgrade - although there was a
possibility that a few might be lost.

In spite of their claim, I for one was never informed of the planned
upgrade - and it sure has lasted more than 12 hours.

An odd fact regarding the recent message that I just received from
Namesecure is that the routing in the header shows that it passed
through a Network Solutions server. I called Network Solutions and
asked for further information and was (politely) informed that
Namesecure had been spun off and was no longer was theirs - and thus
it was not possible for a Namesecure message to be routed through one
of their servers.
