Hi,

I've tried to setup a usb printer (officejet 5510) with cups but
somehow I can't get it to work.

When I send a print to this printer, it's shows that's completed but
nothing is printed.

What is the best way to set this up?

When I turn off this printer this is shown in the logfile:
Feb 15 17:33:50 teigetje kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device
00:1f.2-2 address 4
Feb 15 17:33:50 teigetje kernel: printer.c: usblp0: removed

in device configuration.

The current config file:

DeviceURI usb://Unknown?serial=MY4B8G20JP96
State Idle

I've also changed it to /dev/usb/lp1 etc. but it didn't work.

Gr. Patrick.

How did you configure cups? If you use the printer icon to setup cups,
this doesn't work. The setup via the web interface for CUPS. I have an
USB OfficeJet G85 that I've been able to setup flawlessly.

I used ptal-init to setup detect my printer,

Download the driver and follow the instructions below at this link,
Perform all the ptal-init tests, this makes sure that you can
communicate with the printer before configuring cups.

Hope this helps
Gerald
