Hi all

After using Slackware for a year or so, about a month ago I installed
Sarge, then today upgraded to kernel 2.6.10 with "apt-get install
kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686". After rebooting, I apt-geted alsa, apmd,
discover, udev, alsa-oss, xapm, wireless-tools, and did a dist-upgrade.

Before all this, xmms played MP3/OGG files fine, but now simply moving a
window, scrolling a web page, or even having an xterm write a lot of
output makes the sound stutter and skip. My load average is also way
higher than it usually is:
00:57:44 up 4:09, 7 users, load average: 0.76, 0.68, 0.72

This machine is a mere 366MHz Pentium II laptop, but it was fine with a
2.6.something kernel in Slackware. I'm even using evilwm as my window
manager, and recomplied it without solid window drags, which means I can
now move windows without waiting for redraws, but something's not right.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? I changed a lot of stuff at once, so
I have no idea what output would be useful at the moment, or what might be
to blame.

Thanks :-)
