What do I lose if I don't have FP extensions installed with FP2000?  My ISP
charges a premium for a windows server with FP exentions: $60 vs $15 and the

offer more storage too.  I use forms with confirmation pages and I'm not
using a DB.  I'd like to learn mysql since it's free.  Database functionalit

with FP seems limited other than for searches- so what's it good for if you
can't make an editable database?

You'll basically loose anything that you can think of that would require an
action by the server, such as a form handler (unless your host offers a UNIX
server with Apache 1.3 and the FP Server Extensions), search features, etc..
Anything that is done at design time in the FP client, like the include page
bot, themes (though sometimes they take a bit of work), etc. is ok.

I publish to server without FP extensions because it is cheap for local
non-profit websites. What do I lose? I must keep a current copy of my web on
my machine as a backup (which is a good idea anyway!). I cannot publish
(really ftp) back to my machine. I can upload but not download. If I do
import, I lose navigation structure,etc.

Don't know if could use separate FTP program to download?

The import function only imports what is seen by a browser, so shared
borders, include files, navigation structure, themes, asp pages, databases,
etc. are not imported.

If you use FTP, it is only for a site that does *not* use FP server
extensions or any of the components that are required to use extensions.
