I think that problem here is with Dingo and not the banana
m2n. I believe that Dingo is passing thru the hashcash
header but banana is added on to the string of m2n
gateways that Dingo sends to. Therefore, if dizum is
part of the string and disseminates more quickly, then
banana is preempted.

The question for Dingo admin is, can the remailer be
configured such that if the banana hashcash token is
present in the header then the post will be sent to
banana m2n ONLY?

Hello!

If one is minting tokens for the Banana gateway,
why send the messages to Dizum gateway?

Dingo does not Post/Post-To mail2news-hashcash%bananasplit.info

Use To/Anon-To as in the example Message-ID: <BS1TNDOR38415.0614930556@anony
mous.poster>

Ciao!

Nope.

No. Neither Banana or Panta is in the default list of M2N servers. The
list is:
mail2news@anon.lcs.mit.edu,mail2news@dizum.com,mail2news@freedom.gmsociety.
org,mail2news@news.gradwell.net

This is where your message will go if you use ANON-POST-TO: or POST:
directive.

That is not a remailer issue. If you want to send to Banana, address your
message to Banana. Same thing for Panta.

I do not include any hashcash M2N servers in my default list of M2Ns. They
must be specifically chosen by the user.

Since you use the x-no-archive header I cannot search for the
message, but I definitely recall a message from you several
days ago in which you said that - in reply to a query - that
you had added mail2news-hashcash@bananasplit.info
to your M2N servers list and that you would pass thru the
hashcash header. Was that post a forgery?

-----------------------

Here's a copy of the article to which you - or a forger -
responded.

From: buz
Subject:Is Dingo Admin Around?
Newsgroups:alt.privacy.anon-server
Date :2005-02-20

**This was posted a few days ago. If Dingo Admin
responded, I did not see it.**

I was wondering whether Dingo could support the banana hashcash
mail2news gateway as part of your anon-post-to functionality?
Since dizum gateway is sometimes down and the other gateways
work sporadically at best, this addition of another gateway would
be helpful. If you would add the following to your string and allow
the hashcash header to be passed on, that should do it.

mail2news-hashcash@bananasplit.info

Thanks for your fine service.

No. Allow me to spell it out.

Banana and Panta M2N servers are in my whitelist. Even though Dingo is
middle, messages addressed to either of the above hashcash M2N servers will
go through. The hashcash header will not be stripped.

The are not part of the list of M2N servers that are used when Dingo
recieves a Post or Anon-Post-To directive.

If you want to use Banana or Panta M2N, you have to address the message to
them specifically. If you send a POST: message, it will not be directed to
Banana or Panta.

Clear?

Excellent. To direct posts by default to a Hashcash gateway would be
pointless. It would hit the gateways with a load of posts they would
reject and do nothing to benefit the user. The decision to use a
Hashcash gateway should rest entirely with the user and never be a
default option.

OK, I am sending this post to mail2news-hashcash@bananasplit.info
instead of dizum and including a newly minted hashcash token.

If you can read this message then check the headers for the banana
mail2news gateway.

I had thought this was not possible after reading the description
offered by the banana operator. I do not understand why remailer
ops go out of their way to make something simple seem so difficult.

Then they complain about lack of use.

Can any remailer be used to post through banana or do the others
strip the hashcash header out?

Screen shot tutorials are wonderful; don't be shy about creating them.

Looks good.

By all means, please suggest how I can make the instructions clearer.
Sometimes a page like that seems good to those who already knew how to
do something, but makes no sense to those who did not. Your input would
be appreciated.

> Then they complain about lack of use.
Never. I will sleep just as soundly at night if nobody uses it.

> Can any remailer be used to post through banana or do the others

I'm not aware of any that strip the Hashcash header.

> Screen shot tutorials are wonderful; don't be shy about creating them.
Screenshots of what? JBN, QS and Mixmaster all have different
interfaces, so I'd have to create shots of each of them. My usual
philosophy is to keep all my webpages as text-only, but if you supply
some screenshots, I'll include them as hyperlinks.

Check remailers configuration.

I'll make it easy, the answers are YES and NO respectively.

System performance can only be expected when one employs proper protocols.

Really, we do not mind "holding your hand", however there is a level of user
 competency expected.

While Dingo Admin's reply in Message-ID: <WQ4STYNG38403.6662037037@anonymous
.poster>
may have been ambiguous; it did answer the query with specific proof of the
header allowance.

Simply put... Users must be aware of a given remailer's configuration.

Ciao!
