We are trying to install CS2002 on a web server and a separate SQL server.
The web server has Windows 2000 and SQL server has Windows 2003. These two
servers are standalone and not in a domain.
During the installation, we used the SQL connection information so that
databases will be created on the SQL server.

Upon CS2002 installation, we noticed the 'Predictor' Resource was missing
from the global resources.

We then tried to unpup a blank solution and choose all resources to be
added, but the Predictor resource item on 'Global Resource
Pointers' screen says 'Resource not installed'.

Does anyone know why the predictor is not installed after CS2002
installation?

Thanks!

This is covered in the documentation. Please see this topic: Installing and

Adding a Global Resource Pointer to a Site

Deleting a Resource from a Site
You use the Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Setup program to install and
uninstall Predictor and Direct Mailer, two of the global resources in
Commerce Server. Other global resources are created during the unpacking
process.

After you install Predictor and Direct Mailer, you must unpack these
resources in order for a site to use them. When you unpack an application,
you set the global resource pointers for the site to Predictor and Direct
Mailer. For instructions about adding and deleting global resource pointers
from a site, see Adding a Global Resource Pointer to a Site and Deleting a
Resource from a Site.

For more information about installing and deploying Predictor and Direct
Mailer, see Deploying Your Site.

Note

You can install the Commerce Server 2002 Direct Mailer and Predictor
resources as highly available clustered resources to take advantage of
Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS). For information about installing Direct
Mailer and Predictor as clustered resources, see Installing Commerce Server
2002 Resources as Clustered Resources.
To install Predictor or Direct Mailer

Insert the Commerce Server 2002 CD into your disc drive, and run the
Commerce Server 2002 Setup program. Accept the license agreement, type your
customer information, and select the destination folder.
In the Setup Type dialog box, select Custom (or Modify if you have already
installed Commerce Server on this computer), and then click Next.
In the Custom Setup dialog box, under the Run-time Objects folder, select
the Predictor Service or Direct Mailer Service option, and then select Not
installed for the other options. Click Next.
In the Direct Mailer Database Configuration dialog box, type the name of
the local computer in the SQL Server Computer box. Type the SQL server
login user name and password to use when creating the Direct Mailer
database, and then click Next.
In the Services Accounts dialog box, type the Windows user name and
password of the account under which the services will run, and then click
Next.
Note

When designating a service account, use a permanent account. If this
account is disabled at a later date, or if the password is changed,
Commerce Server will stop working. For instructions about changing a
service account or password, see Changing a Service Account or Password.
In the Ready to Install dialog box, click Install.
Commerce Server Setup installs Predictor and/or Direct Mailer onto the
computer.

Click Finish to exit the Setup program.
To uninstall Predictor or Direct Mailer

Important
To uninstall a Commerce Server 2002 clustered resource, you must first
uninstall Commerce Server 2002. After you uninstall Commerce Server 2002,
you can uninstall the cluster service (MSCS). For information about
uninstalling Commerce Server 2002, see "Uninstalling Commerce Server 2002"
in the Commerce Server 2002 Installation Guide.
Insert the Commerce Server 2002 CD into your disc drive, and run the
Commerce Server 2002 Setup program. Accept the license agreement, type your
customer information, and accept the default destination folder.
In the Setup Type dialog box, select Modify, and then click Next.
In the Custom Setup dialog box, verify that the feature you want to remove,
Predictor Service or Direct Mailer Service, is not selected (the check box
should have an X in it, indicating that you are not selecting it), and then
click Next.
In the Ready to Install dialog box, click Install.
Commerce Server Setup removes Predictor and/or Direct Mailer from the
computer.

Click Finish to exit the Setup program.
