There is a way. I have done it before too. There’s a software utility called
Riva FLV encoder http://rivavx.de/ (I don’t sell it for them). You can open
an flv and encode it to whatever you want. I have even converted to avi from
flv and the audio was outputted to the avi. Sometimes the avi requires a
special codec – I can find out if you are interested – have it on my
computer somewhere. If this interests you let me know and I can walk you
thru it.

I’m referring to the nellymoser audio transcodng. I think your reffering to
flv’s outside of the ones recorded by fms. Riva uses ffmpeg. If i’m not
mistaken it does not include the nellymoser codec. I was asking as to when
that tool will come out on Adobe Labs, It was quite a while ago since I’ve
heard from anyone from adobe, It’s kind of making me hesitate about
investing in this product any longer. I’ve emailed people from Adobe quite a
few times to look into purchasing a transcoding gateway to bridge fms with
something like asterix, but didn’t get any reply. Any response is better
then no response for me. I hate being idle with issues like this because I
just can’t afford it. I don’t mean to offend any of Adobe employee’s, I know
it’s a long process to do any things in these situations, but better
communication from Adobe and especially nellymoser would allow us to plan
our business models better, and intern hopefully sell more FMS licenses.

This encoder works will all flvs from the media server or not. I don’t think
this product was intended to work this way but it does. On the output
textbox of the program replace .flv with .mp3. We used it a couple of times
with live streams that were recorded. I know the Adobe thing would be nice.
But this works well for the interim…

I would be VERY interested to see this working. What’s your setup? Are you
using ffmpeg on Windows? What syntax do you use for flv to mp3 conversion?

I don’t think you got the problem right though. Why would be substitute .flv
with .mp3 on the OUTPUT side? We need flv on the input side, mp3 as output.

If you try what you described ffmpeg you will get an ‘unsupported input
stream’ error as soon as you feed it a flv file that’s recorded via FMS
(nellymoser codec). You can tell ffmpeg to copy the audio but then the
resulting mp3 file cannot be played…

By the way. I’ve tried RED5 server yesturday. It produses FVL Format
: 0x5 => WAVE_FORMAT_IBM_CVSD
Wich is “Continuously Variable Slope Delta modulation”
And it cant be handled with something like FFMPEG or SoX.
All I am getting is just a noise.
